Christmas tree walk

The 36th annual Trails & Rails Museum Christmas Tree walk officially starts on Saturday, December 2nd at 3pm and features approximately 1,500 square feet of beautiful Christmas décor and trees from area non-profits and decorators. This year’s sponsors include Valley Pharmacy and Smallcakes A Cupcakery as part of the traditional and annual Christmas Walk that dates back to 1987.

According to Broc Anderson, the Community Engagement Director, “We traditionally, have had the Christmas Walk in various buildings on property, but now with this space, we can really create a marvelous Christmas exhibition.” Several trees from the Kearney Area Children’s Museum, Daughters of the American Revolution Chapter Ft. Kearny, and a dozen more from area non-profits.

In addition to the traditional Christmas Walk at the Trails & Rails Museum, the added mini-tree and wreath silent bid auction adds to the overall fundraiser. According to Anderson, “the mini-tree and wreath decorators really outdid themselves this year and will surely get anyone into the holiday spirit.” As a new tradition, the general public is invited throughout the month of November to pick up a tree/wreath from the Trails & Rails Museum and decorate for the silent bid auction. This year, the Trails & Rails Museum has nearly 40 trees/wreaths decorated.

While there is no admission to see the Christmas Walk, visitors can help support the museum through this fundraiser by voting on their favorite big tree that matches with the “150” theme or bid on a mini-tree/wreath to take home for the holiday.
